PingPongParkinson World Championship in Wels 2023

On Tuesday I entered exhibition hall 6 in Wels and was immediately overwhelmed by the energy and enthusiasm. Surrounded by almost 300 other athletes from all over the world who are just as passionate about table tennis as I am, I immediately felt at home. Now, on Friday, I'm proudly in the round of XNUMX in both the men's doubles and the doubles mix. This isn't just a competition; it is a testament to the unwavering spirit of all of us - athletes who, despite Parkinson's disease, push our limits and show what is possible. The following article from Oberösterreich Nachrichten gives a comprehensive and impressive insight into this World Cup, and I would like to share it with you.

Fit through the week with Gabi Fastner

My morning exercises are as important to me as coffee for breakfast. Without extensive stretching and stretching in the morning, I can set the clock to when the first off phase begins. Gabi Fastner is my constant companion.

“Have you walked backwards today?”

How non-drug tricks can help you run better

It sometimes happens that while walking, one of my feet takes on a life of its own and starts to twist. My muscles get stiff, my toes curl up and I can't move with the best will in the world. There is no good coaxing, no stretching, no nothing, except standing still, breathing consciously and relaxing.

What many do not know, however, is that research now assumes that Parkinson's is not just a single disease. Rather, we are dealing with a variety of neurological disorders crammed under one Parkinson's umbrella. Welcome to the Parkinson's party!

PingPong Parkinson

PingPongParkinson - the name says it all - a program that I paid no attention to in 2019 when I was diagnosed with Parkinson's.

Revolving too much around myself, hoping too much for classical medicine with its numerous drugs, I paid no attention to non-drug therapies. It was only over time that I learned that movement was good for me and that it didn't matter what kind of movement it was.
