Sooner or later everyone with Parkinson's disease or their caring relatives will deal with the topic of acute or rehabilitation clinics. The focus is always on the question of which clinic is most suitable for the respective needs.
To make it easier to find a suitable clinic, I have compiled a list of relevant clinics. The list is sorted by postcode areas and differentiates between acute and rehabilitation clinics. It does not claim to be complete, further suggestions are welcome.
Acute clinic
The aim of treatment in an acute clinic (hospital treatment) is to restore health, i.e. to cure or substantially improve a disease. The instruction is usually given by the family doctor or the supervising neurologist.
Rehabilitation Clinic
Rehabilitation mainly deals with the consequences of the illness and aims to restore or maintain the ability to work. It is approved by the pension insurance on the appropriate medical recommendation.
Furthermore, a distinction is made between certified specialist clinics and clinics with a focus on treating Parkinson's. The certification is granted by the "German Parkinson Association" according to strictly defined criteria.
