Thanks Jürgen for the great compilation!

What I find a bit problematic is the trivialization I perceive of the side effect of dopamine agonists. It's not just about the addiction to buying, gambling and sex that is repeatedly mentioned in public and that ruins families (and I also know examples of this), but about a change in personality that is often not so concretely comprehensible and yet clear (massive drive and restlessness, Addiction problems that are not so obvious,...).

I had started smoking again at the time of diagnosis and was simply unable to quit in the two years of taking the agonist - I tried about XNUMX times with the result of dumping the cigarettes I had bought in the local wastebasket and again at night out. I was restless, stayed up late despite being tired, cleared the fridge at midnight.

Of course, there were also the great aspects of this time for me: finally a lot of time for me again, namely at night! My inexhaustible creativity. Both together, the "gained" time and the sparkling creativity made it possible for me to publish two books on my own within two years, including all the trimmings.

My neurologist said I needed to discipline myself. That wasn't possible for me and put me under pressure again. I switched neurologists, he eliminated the agonists and within 2 weeks I was the old “Sophia” again.

First I slept endlessly for two months and then my sleep was back on track. I was able to stop smoking immediately and I had my peace of mind again.

I'm not the only one, I know a few who had a similar experience. The change is slow and insidious and is often not immediately noticeable. Or does not want to be noticed, since this manic behavior is also attractive. For me, however, it had a devastating effect on me and the whole family over time.

A current study from Innsbruck assumes that almost 50% of patients suffer from severe side effects from agonists.

I'm glad not to be on this drug anymore.
