Neuro workshop of silly walks
A contribution by Jürgen Zender

If we talk about exercise as an effective non-medicinal option Therapy When we speak against Parkinson's disease, we unconsciously mean the typical sporting activities from rehabilitation and physiotherapy.

But what matters is not just that you move, but rather how you move.

Science has long since proven that movements that are carried out contrary to expectations have a measurably higher effect.

For example, simply walking backward affects the dopaminergic system far more and more effectively than walking forward.

In the neuro workshop of Dr Mareike Schwed, unusual or unusual movements are therefore the focus of the training.

Of course, I don't know if John Cleese had the slightest idea in his legendary sketch The Ministry of Silly Walks that his crazy walks would one day play a role in the treatment of Parkinson's patients.

But in the following video, Mareike and I explained with a wink why that is, and why there is a picture of John Cleese hanging in the neuro workshop.

I wish you a lot of fun and a few hearty laughs.

Stay tuned.
