13. March 2023 @ 10: 00 - 11:00

Parkinson's research is making great progress - new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches give reason for hope. The incurable nerve disease is now symptomatically well treatable. However, the current research also sheds new light on the individual causes and on new opportunities for early diagnosis with the aim of developing the first causal therapy. Two years ago, the German Society for Parkinson's and Movement Disorders (DPG) launched the "Parkinson Agenda 2030" and considers this goal to be realistic from a professional point of view - provided that Parkinson's research is publicly funded and structured more stringently in the future. "Due to the enormous increase in knowledge in recent years, not only the precise phenotyping of individual movement disorders is possible today. New technologies such as sensors and innovative imaging methods also offer promising opportunities to individualize the treatment of those affected and thus further improve it," says Prof. Alexander Storch, DPG Congress President and 2nd Chairman of the DPG.
