In order to improve mobility and safety in everyday life, the medical technology company Portabiles HealthCare Technologies has developed the hybrid care model ParkinsonGo TM together with neurologists and patients. ParkinsonGo TM has been successfully tested and has been reimbursed by several health insurance companies in Germany since January 2024.

App and nurses accompany you in everyday life
ParkinsonGo TM combines precise gait analysis and a smartphone app with intensive support from Parkinson Telenurses. The aim is to slow down the progression of the disease, maintain mobility and independence and thereby improve the quality of life of those affected. Using sensors attached to the shoes, the ParkinsonGo app analyzes gait quality and records symptom patterns (e.g. poor mobility) as well as everyday challenges in a diary. Intelligent algorithms derive personalized recommendations for action in the form of physiotherapeutic exercise plans and tips for dealing with the disease.

In addition, experienced Parkinson's nurses offer telephone support in everyday life, which is a real relief for many of our users. Regardless of whether it is about questions about how to cope with everyday situations or simply a motivating conversation, the Parkinson's nurses are there to help their patients with advice and support and, according to feedback, often provide support on the way to a more active life Parkinson's. ParkinsonGo TM thus promotes the mobility and safety of those affected in everyday life.

Experiences of the first patients
The first users of ParkinsonGo TM report on their successes through daily coaching with physiotherapeutic exercises and personalized tips: Some have become more agile and mobile in everyday life, while others can now get through their day without back pain. Still others became aware of their recurring “bad phases” by visualizing their activity and gait quality and spoke to their doctor about it.

These results show how important ongoing care and guidance can be for people with Parkinson's. Another aspect is the optional telemedical treatment, which simplifies access to specialists and saves travel costs.

Targeted therapy planning
For neurologists, ParkinsonGo TM offers support in therapy planning. By working with Parkinson's Telenurses, they receive valid reports on their patients' gait quality, symptom patterns and well-being. This information enables an objective representation of the course of the disease and a comprehensive insight into the everyday difficulties of your patients. The selective contract with ParkinsonGo TM also aims to identify the need for therapy more quickly.

How do I get ParkinsonGo TM?

Also the Parkinson Association eV. – involved in practical tests of the care model – is impressed by the performance of ParkinsonGo TM. In particular, the fact that a digital high-tech solution combined with an intensive care component (telenursing) has found initial access to the health insurance system is remarkable.
