Parkinson's therapies - speech therapy and corona

Video from the category “Parkinson Therapies”

Speech therapy in Parkinson's patients usually deals with swallowing and speaking problems. Various techniques are explained, demonstrated and trained that help the patient to minimize the symptoms, if not eliminate them at all.

Speech therapy is a classic face-to-face therapy that has actually always been ideally suited for video therapy. But Covid-19 first had to come over us before the health insurance companies recognized this form of therapy.

Incredible, but true - as soon as the number of infections goes down, speech therapists can no longer bill the video therapies.

We patients urgently need the opportunity to protect ourselves. And that means, as long as there is a general mask requirement and distance recommendations, we need the possibility of using video therapy to carry out therapies that only make sense without a mask.

Even if at some point Corona would no longer pose a threat to us at risk patients, video therapy would be a blessing for patients who are often severely restricted in their mobility.

In my current video, I take up this topic and explain the background.
